Getting ready for a locked-down Christmas?
5 tips to make it easier!
Christmas 2020 may be more EXCEPTIONAL than the others… The rules of Christmas Eve: celebrate and enjoy time together!! … while protecting everyone from the nasty virus hiding among us!!
Here are our tips for celebrating Christmas with joy and good cheer in these locked-down times:
1. Start buying your gifts now
A recent study by the price comparison site Idealo (Link: https://www.idealo.fr/mag/2020/10/22/cadeaux-de-noel-quand-acheter-au-meilleur-prix/ ) shows that some periods are better for buying, because prices rise right up to the big day: 4 weeks before for Lifestyle & Tech products (Black Friday), 3 weeks before for toys (Cyber Monday), 1 week before for home appliances. Start preparing your gifts now.
2. Organize a draw several weeks before the big day
A Christmas Eve with 7, 10, 30, 50 people or more… may be difficult this year…? Don't panic! If there are many of you, organize an online gift draw with My-Secret-Santa.org (1 to 5 gifts per participant)!
Set your own draw rules to avoid gifts between 2 people (adult/child, brother/sister, couple, colleague, etc.). Through My-Secret-Santa.org's anonymous messaging and your letter to Santa, share your gift wishes, your crazy ideas, your joys, like children before Christmas! And support each other from afar!!
3. Send your gifts by mail well in advance
You can share your postal addresses during your Secret Santa. Then send your gifts by parcel 4 to 2 WEEKS BEFORE your Christmas Eve. Deliveries are likely to be numerous this holiday season… Santa is going to have a lot of work!!
4. Decorate your home!
Take care of yourself, and take the opportunity to DECORATE your home, your (home) office. Keep the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT alive!!

5. Organize a video call to open the gifts
If gatherings are still limited at Christmas, why not HOLD A REMOTE VIDEO CHRISTMAS EVE ? Connect all your participants through a free video conferencing tool. You will be able to see everyone and celebrate Christmas together from afar!!
Here are a few free tools:
- Facebook Messenger, Skype, WhatsApp
- Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, TeamViewer, Zoom
Make sure to check before the big day that you have everyone's email contacts, that everyone has access to the video conferencing tool and that the video will work!
All that's left is to celebrate this very special Christmas 2020 all together!! Without giving up the joy, the celebration and the pleasure of sharing together this passage into a new year, which we all hope will be better!
Happy holidays, take care of yourself and your loved ones
